In November 2009 Jenerik Soulz became an ambassador of dance4life. To kick of their partnership, Jenerik Soulz announced that part of the proceeds of their debut album, Room Service, will to go to dance4life South African schools programme.
dance4life is a dynamic international initiative which actively involves young people and gives them a powerful voice in pushing back the spread of HIV and the stigma and taboos that surround it. Young people are inspired through the use of experience marketing, dance, music, youth icons and their own language, encouraging them to learn more about HIV and AIDS.
Between now and 2014, dance4life aims to have created one million ‘agents of change’ around the world by actively involving large numbers of young people every year in in-depth life skills programmes and other prevention, awareness and fundraising activities. Every two years at the dance4life event, on the Saturday before World AIDS Day, an ever-growing number of agents of change will be dancing simultaneously for life. They will be reminding world leaders to keep the promises they made regarding the Millennium Development Goals, culminating in a last call to action at the dance4life event in 2014.
dance4life has been operating in South Africa since 2003 and has reached more than 50,000 young South Africans 13-19 in a positive and energetic way. With school programmes starting up in Eastern Cape this March and Gauteng and Western Cape soon, the youth movement in South Africa taking positive action in pushing back HIV and AIDS in their communities and schools will grow even more.
